Ebusco 2.2

Ebusco 2.2 – a new Dutch electric bus designed in collaboration with KesselsGranger DesignWorks

Creating value for your city – attractive Zero Emission public transport
The importance of electric public transport is key to reducing our environmental footprint in mobility and improving air quality, noise pollution and health in our cities. Creating the desire to opt for public transport is of great importance for its success and profitability.

A well-designed product plays an integral role in fulfilling and exceeding this challenge: the expectations to travel efficiently in style and comfort are constantly more demanding. When designing the Ebusco 2.2, KesselsGranger applied its experience in the automotive and yachting sectors to create a practical product that fulfils the requirement to attract passengers.

By combining a state-of-the-art 100% electric driveline with a desirable exterior and interior design, the Ebusco 2.2 creates more value for your city.

Ebusco 2.2 – designed for efficiency
With its impressive technical specification, the full electric Ebusco 2.2 demanded an exterior and interior design of remarkable quality. The Ebusco 2.2 design team have strived to create a bus that incorporates the following core values: an elegant and attractive appearance; timeless detailing; a welcoming presence for a wide demographic; ease of maintenance; robust components; and an advanced LED lighting package.

Design team
The exterior and interior design of the Ebusco 2.2 has been developed in collaboration with KesselsGranger DesignWorks.

KesselsGranger was responsible for the concept development, final design drafting and Class A surfacing (3D modelling) of the exterior body components and drivers cabin. Ebusco R&D engineers seamlessly developed the engineering of the components in-house.

The exterior concept – an evergreen design
The Ebusco 2.2 has been developed as a true companion for both the operator and the passenger. The timeless styling is both modern, yet also welcoming. The fine balance between emotional and rational design has been developed to look well placed in centres with both modern and classical architecture.

The sculpted windscreen surround that flows into the A-posts typifies the head-on view of the Ebusco 2.2. The gloss black band that optically runs from the side glass sections, continues across the front to house the LED lighting modules and enables a proud location for the Ebusco emblem which is placed between the lower centre panel inlay.

The front lower corner panels have a prominent bevelled edge to create maximum protection for the lighting modules above. The central lower panel has a recessed styling feature and an integrated area for the registration plate.

At the front of the bus, great care has been applied towards designing the opening sequence of the panels and the reparability of parts. Certain components have also been packaged neatly out of sight, including the switch for the doors, which is concealed on the underside of the hand recess on the front panel: out of view, yet an ideal height for operation.

At the rear, the bus has a unique constructive character with the optical integration of the rear window with the taillight modules. Similar treatment to the front has been applied to the rear bumper sections. The rear lid has a generous opening size and includes charging points for the batteries.

High quality LED package
The functional exterior design incorporates the latest generation of LED lighting technology. At the front, modular lights with ring-shaped DRLs and indicators ensure a modern and attractive appearance. These units have been carefully packaged in well-surfaced modules that also bear the Ebusco emblem.

The fog lights have been recessed as far as possible to reduce the chance of accident damage.

At the rear, advanced taillights have been incorporated into the styling. Embedded in gloss black modules, these wing-shaped LED units form an integral part of the styling, connected optically via surfacing to the rear lid.

The vertical rear lighting modules combine the main lighting functions: tail, stop and indicators. The fog lights and reflectors are incorporated in the bumper whereas twin reverse lights are neatly packaged alongside the registration plate recess.

The drivers cabin – integral styling
The functional yet elegant design continues in the interior. The controlled sweeping lines of the dashboard have been created for a welcoming entrance. The drivers cabin incorporates a fully adjustable dashboard, excellent windscreen ventilation and generous space for the driver and his belongings. Distinctive features are the recessed signature line that runs along the base of the cabin and the Ebusco branding embossed in the cabin door.

Conceptually, Ebusco has left no stone unturned and developed a completely new bus with their own team - the generation 2.2. The goal of creating an elegant and attractive vehicle has indeed been achieved by the Dutch company. The new exterior and interior design as well as the driver's cab were created in cooperation with the Belgian / Dutch design studio KesselsGranger DesignWorks.
